GMC Mine Scheduler v2.00
This software provides users with a basis for modeling their mining operation, and the user may then extend that model using all the tools, flexibility, and methods that Excel® has to offer.

The GMC Mine Scheduler is a 'COM Add-In' for Microsoft® Excel® that is very fast and easy to:

bullet·  install,

bullet·  learn,

bullet·  set up a project,

bullet·  use for scheduling

Flow Diagram As a core application, it creates the ideal basis for:
bullet1·  Short and long term planning,
bullet1·  Annual budgets,
bullet1·  Cost estimates (including from first principles),
bullet1·  Equipment studies,
bullet1·  Detailed full feasibility studies,
bullet1·  Mine performance reviews and comparative studies,
bullet1·  Fast due diligence studies, and
bullet1·  Various types of reconciliation.

Resource leveling is easily implemented

The software is robust, having been extensively tested. Internal validation procedures constantly check the material balance for a schedule being developed.

With the assistance of wizards, the software is capable of efficiently handling jobs of great complexity, as are commonly encountered in mining operations.

In general terms, the time taken to set up large and complex models for mine planning in Excel® (using formulas) can be months.

GMC Mine Scheduler's optimised code provides more sophisticated solutions to these complex problems in a matter of hours.

The ability to handle grades on dumps enables:

bullet·  Cutoff grade Vs Plant Size optimisation to be undertaken, and
bullet·  Blending type problems for bulk commodities such as Iron Ore may be addressed.
bullet·  Lerchs-Grossman pit optimisation's may now be modified to account for the cost of maintaining stockpiles of ore that are temporarily unsuitable for blending.

Platform Stability

GMC Mine Scheduler has been developed under Microsoft Excel® using Visual Basic® for applications, and compiled to a .dll using the Microsoft Office® Developer Tools. It is a major application in its own right, that uses Excel® as a user interface.

The ease of use, power, versatility, and reliability of Excel® has been the benefit of this approach.

Data Handling Advantage

It is different from a normal Excel® application in that it does not use formulas in cells but instead reads and writes numeric values to cells, the calculations being performed by the GMC Mine Scheduler program.

This gives a huge speed advantage and vastly reduced memory requirements compared to conventional Excel® applications.
