WORK EXPERIENCE

EMPLOYER                  GRD MINPROC

            June 2005 to June 2007.

1)       Yamana – Santa Luz. Feasibility/Pre-feasibility/Scoping/Conceptual mining study for 5 small open pit gold deposits.

2)       Nova Energy – Pre-feasibility study for Nova Energy on the Lake Way and Centipede deposits near Wiluna, Western Australia.

3)       BHP Billiton – Mt Nimba. Assisted in the preparation of conceptual plan and presentation drawings for iron ore deposit in Guinea.

4)       Canico - Onca Puma. Large (100 Mt+) nickel laterite in Para state, Brazil. A pyrometallurgical smelting process was proposed and this necessitated complex optimization and blending processes for the whole of life schedule. The large size of the orebody also resulted in significant technical problems for the hardware and software. The deposit was bought by CVRD at the end of 2005.

5)       Pre-feasibility study for Heron Resources Limited, Kalgoorlie Nickel Project. Very large (890 Mt) and low grade nickel (0.7 %Ni) laterite.

                                    Garnsey Mining Consultants Pty Ltd

August 1997 to June 2005.

SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT

Assisting Bounty (Victoria) Pty Ltd with Blue Haze and Blue Vein pit planning.

PIT OPTIMISATIONS – MT MAGNET, WA

Pit optimizations for 30 open cut gold prospects.  Complete set of plans and sections for 20 of these deposits. Detailed mine designs for two operating pits.

MINE PLANNING FOR GRD MINPROC.

1)       Syerston nickel/cobalt laterite deposit owned by Black Range Minerals in NSW, Australia.  Mineable Reserve of 76Mt at 0.69%Ni, 0.12% Co.

2)       Letpaduang Copper Project for Ivanhoe Mines in Burma. This is a billion tonne copper deposit (0.4% Cu). Undertook staged pit designs for GRD Minproc Limited. As part of a full feasibility study. Contributed to the costing of this project which was done on a “first principles” basis.

3)       Taldy Bulak Project – Feasibility Review Study by GRD Minproc for Central Asia Gold Limited. Taldy Bulak is an underground gold mine in Kyrgyzstan incorporating paste fill technology, Contains approximately 8 million tones at 8 grammes per tonne.

4)       Rapu Rapu multi element (Copper, Gold, Zinc, Silver) open pit in Phillipines for Lafayette Mining, Pit designs, underground designs, multiple plots of orebody and workings using Surpac. Rapu Rapu is a multi-element volcanogenic deposit with a very complex orebody.

5)       BHP Billiton Mining AreaC bulk sample pit planning. This involved a 700kt bulk sample taken from a 4.3mt total mining pit with 13 separate ore categories for blending purposes. Planning, scheduling, and blending of large bulk sample pit to very tight specifications regarding grades and timing. Scheduling encompassed the mining schedule, the road haulage to railhead schedule, and the rail haulage to port schedule.

6)       Australian Zircon (then Southern Titanium). Mine plans and designs using Surpac for the Mercunda, Midarie, and Amiens deposits in the Murray valley of NSW and SA. The client was examining unusual mining methods to address some of the unique characteristics of this deposit

7)       Savage River. Pit and dump designs for Savage River iron ore mine, Tasmania.

8)       Corimayo Underground Conceptual Study associated with the Yanacocha (Gold) mining project (51%Newmont) in Chile. Underground development layout and stope designs. This project involved the mining of 5.3 million tones of ore at 5.7 grammes per tonne. Critical issues were the altitude of the deposit with its implications on ventilation requirements in the mechanized underground mine, and the stability of the rock mass when mined.

9)       Eunsan gold mine, South Korea. Mine planning including mine design and evaluation of mining strategies for a small underground gold mine. Eunsan was the only active metalliferous mine in South Korea at that time.

10)   Oyu Tolgoi (Turquoise Hill) Mongolia. This copper-gold deposit contains Measured and Indicated resources totaling 1.15 billion tonnes (copper equivalent grade of 1.54%), and in addition 1.16 billion tonnes of inferred resources. Assisted GRD Minproc Limited in the development of underground mining plans for this deposit.

11)   Bulong. West Australian goldfields nickel laterite deposit. Mining study for the projects bankers. This exercise included Whittle optimizations of all deposits complicated by unusually large data sets.

12)   Rosia Montana Gold Project, Romania, for Gabriel Resources Ltd. of Canada. Participated in the Basic Engineering Study for this 10.6 million ounce project. Undertook equipment studies associated with the whole of life plan. Five major open pit deposits, Cetate, Cirnic, Cirnicel, Jig Vaidoaia-Igre, Orlea-Tarina. These deposits collectively represent a major world-class gold resource.

Mining components of scoping study for a major proposed nickel/cobalt laterite project. This job was subject to a confidentiality agreement.

PIT OPTIMISATION AND DESIGN – TARKWA, WEST AFRICA

Open cut pit optimization and design for large heap leach open cut gold deposit on behalf of Snowden Associates. Tarqwa is a multi-layered flatly dipping seam type deposit with a projected 20-year mine life.  The mine planning process was complicated by the unusually large size of the deposit and by the interaction of the multiple seams.

OPEN CUT PLANNING AND DESIGN

Revised staged pit designs for Cadia open cut mine near Orange, NSW.  Cadia is a gold/copper deposit with approximately 180 Mt ore to be mined over 10 years. Open pit to be between 500 m and 650 m in depth.  The complex interaction of ramps servicing the various pit stages in a deep, tight pit was a feature of this exercise

MINERAL SANDS DREDGING OPERATION

Mine planning for 18 million tonnes per annum mineral sands dredging operation at Eneabba, WA on behalf of Snowden Associates.  Specific responsibilities covering overburden planning, tailings planning, and final void planning.  Difficulties had been experienced in the operation due to high slimes content of the tailings, shortage of tailings space, and more generally, the difficulty in scheduling the complex interaction of production, tailings, and overburden processes.

STAGED PIT DESIGN AND SCHEDULING

Work undertaken in the Perth offices of Minproc Engineers.  Staged pit designs, whole of life production scheduling, and mine equipment fleet scheduling for the Letpaduang copper project.  Letpaduang is a (near) billion tonne low grade copper deposit in Burma.  Assisted with mining cost estimation from first principles and leach pad scheduling.
